414 Sunfish Dr is one of the most unique homes in
Lakeway, Tx. This home was constructed by a Builder/Architect who studied fine
details of Frank Lloyd Wright. One of Wright's greatest accomplishments was the
home constructed in Bear Run coined " Falling Water ". This
home on Sunfish represents many design features of " Falling Water ".
There is a large natural spring that feeds a stream that meanders under
cantilevered sections of this home. The entire home is nestled on a 7 acre
private preserve of Texas native Live Oaks, Elm, and other local trees. The
Architect was precise when it came to gaining solar efficiencies. Large tree
canopies shade most of the Southern and Western wall surfaces. Eagle Low E 4
windows provide some of the best R and U values on the market. Many of the
high efficiency wood patio sliding doors are set back into the home 2'
minimizing direct sun and weather exposure. Natural light filters throughout
every angle and wall surface in the home. There are Solar tubes that bring soft
natural light to the interior of the home; while many high efficiency wood
windows bring in filtered light to the perimeter of the home. The center of the
home contains a large deck which surrounds 3 large trees that cascade high above
this clearstory space. This center courtyard brings the nature right into the
home, where most of the visitors can view this inviting space.
